Community Development and Rural Sustainability

May 7th - 25th, 2012 Hosted by Augustana Campus (University of Alberta)

This is a three week intensive field study of the dynamics of sustainability (ecological/economic/sociological) and the issues of community development facing rural communities in Alberta. This program is open to professionals, community members, and students from across Canada!

*Students enrolled in current studies can register and obtain 3 Course Credit (semester equivalent). Life-learning or community members can register through "Open Studies". See link below to register.

Accommodation & Travel

This program is a "residence-based" program where students may stay on campus for 20 nights, one week of directed reading and study followed by guided interaction with rural watershed and municipal organizations and interaction with community professionals for the following two weeks. This course promises to be an immersion in rural sustainability issues, solutions, and networking opportunities for emerging professionals and students!!
