Sustainability Resources Ltd works with many different communities to support and advance their sustainability efforts. Some of the communities we work with include;
Communities have been tasked with the impressive challenge of integrating sustainability into the ways that we design and manage our communities. But, what does sustainability mean for a municipality, what are the tools to implement a community sustainability plan, and how can all community stakeholders be brought onto the same page? Sustainability Resources offers municipalities support through our Sustainability Learning Programs and by building teams of Resource Associates to meet your individual community’s needs.
Municipalities can access both the Sustainable Water Management and the Sustainable Communities resource programs . These programs are delivered as single day workshops for internal municipal employees from multiple departments and community stakeholders. These programs are designed to give participants an introduction to many of the topics relating to water management and community sustainability that municipalities deal with.
Managing resources and participating in community planning is increasingly approached as a multi-stakeholder dialogue that requires input from many sectors. WPACs and NGOs play an important role in bringing together many groups to inform the management of resources. Implementation of watershed management plans is often the most difficult aspect of water management process. Our programs are designed to build relationships, promote knowledge sharing, and develop the capacity of multiple stakeholders to implement planning objectives at provincial, regional, and basin scales.
Gaining a basic understanding of how local and provincial policies influence industrial operations, building positive relationships with community stakeholders, and displaying commitment to fostering the sustainable use of resources are among the benefits of participating in the capacity building opportunity that Sustainability Resource’s learning programs provides.
Community groups and individuals have an important voice to share regarding the values of the community. Participating alongside industry professionals, municipal representatives, members of the academic community, and WPACs/NGOs as they develop a common understanding of sustainable water management and sustainable community development will build the capacity of individuals and community groups to participate in the important discussions on sustainability that influence their communities.
